Sofia has been a key member of Congresswoman Lateefah Simon’s campaign team since 2023, supporting campaign and fundraising operations across the board, managing event logistics and staffing, cultivating donor and organizational relationships, and overseeing the Congresswoman’s high-volume call time program. She joined SGR full time in March 2026. 

Prior to joining SGR, Sofia worked in human rights advocacy in Washington, D.C., supporting the development of several foreign aid amendments to the FY2024 National Defense Authorization Act, which sought to regulate the use of American-made defensive technologies against civilians in conflict zones.

Sofia holds bachelor’s degrees in Global Studies and Middle Eastern Languages and Cultures from the University of California, Berkeley and is a native Californian.
